Skyline Hotel
Skyline Hotel
Like the landmark from which the band takes its name, Washington, DC's Skyline Hotel has always tried to embody one thing: escapism. What originated as a personal therapeutic project for singer Jon Lee to deal with his adversity soon became a set of songs his brother and lead guitarist/producer Jeff Lee could not ignore. From bedroom demos to local clubs, the brothers began to cultivate a modern blend of pop and rock that was as fun as it was vital. Expanding to include organist/bassist Zack Be and veteran drummer Alan Slimak, the band has become a full blown pop/rock powerhouse. With two EPs under its belt - including 2016's Sparks of Light - and a constant gigging schedule that has found the band performing at The 9:30 Club and sharing the stage with nationally and internationally touring acts such as Echo & the Bunnymen, Zella Day, Kitten, and Hippo Campus, this songwriting quartet is only just hitting its stride. Still, Skyline Hotel is, at its core, just four musicians charting an escape from the realities of everyday life, seeking what only music can deliver.
Dark Trilobite
Dark Trilobite
Dark Trilobite was founded in 2011 through Bach2Rock Bethesda’s Band Program. The band’s original five members, three of whom are still with them, played drums, bass, guitar, keyboard, and vocals. Through a change of singers, the loss a guitarist, and a switch of instruments, the band now consists of four members: Isabella “Isa” Cymrot (vocals/keyboard), Max Mendelsohn (guitar/keyboard), Sammy Rabinowitz (drums), and Evan Solnik (bass). Dark Trilobite, or DT, plays a variety of music from alternative and rock to reggae and funk. Since 2015, the band has won three consecutive Battle of the Bands competitions. They are currently working on an EP, which will be released May 11, 2019 and consists of four songs. The songs were written by the four members, with the lyrics by Isabella. Her lyrics consist of messages about overcoming hard times, saying goodbye to people close to you, and the struggles of friendship. The band also performs covers, with songs by Phish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Paramore, among others.
