Rafa's One Man Band
Rafa's One Man Band
Rafa is a San Francisco fixture, and can often be found playing Burning Man related events or house parties all around the Bay Area as well as classic venues like The Boom Boom Room, The Revolution Cafe, Amnesia and Milk Bar.
For the first time ever Rafa's One Man Band is heading to the East Coast, and the tour ends at Gypsy Sally's! Travelling between Americana and Brazuka, Rafa's One Man Band is comprised of one man, and many layers. From driving funk rhythms, to string heavy pop anthems Rafa manages to walk a fine line between ego and soul, digital and analogue, musicality and production. Recently, Rafa has had friends join him on stage such as Phil Brezina (Brothers Comatose), Cochrane McMillan (Tea Leaf Green) and Eric Diberardino (Tea Leaf Green).
Rafa mixes live production with looping techniques and live instrumentation to create the sound of a full band in real time. Playing several originals, and a handful of well chosen covers (from artists such as The Fugees, The Talking Heads and Joanna Newsom) he happily strolls between being jamtronica, singer/songwriter, and a lunatic loop fanatic.
