Black Masala
Black Masala

Brassy Washington DC-based multicultural outfit, Black Masala, is part of the new generation of go-anywhere brass bands. You can hear this sound all over the world now – from New Orleans (Hot 8) to Belgrade (Boban & Marko Markovic), Paris (Fanfarai) to Cotonou (Gangbe Brass Band), and right here on the east coast area as well (Red Baraat & No BS! Brass). A major party alert for this band – Black Masala puts on an amazing, high-energy live show that features brass, tuba, accordion, electric guitar, drums and vocals.

“Black Masala is a D.C. outfit that has found success riding off of its own inventiveness. Experimenting with a flirtatious combination of gypsy punkiness and brass, the band can expertly churn an audience of awkward head-bobbers into a livened stew of aspirant dancers. Their big-band sound seems able to adapt to any venue; readily filling out the cavernous space of the 9:30 while simultaneously fitting to match the intimacy of Tropicalia. For them, no groove is off limits.” – WRGW Music Blog

In the last 3 years since its inception, Black Masala have been hitting the road as well as playing frequently in the Washington, DC area. Winner of 4 Washington Area Music "WAMMY" Awards, including ‘Best New Artist’ has made the band a standout live act in the region.
The Southern Belles
The Southern Belles
The band consists of Adrian Ciucci (guitar/vocals), Tommy Booker (keys/vocals), Raphael Katchinoff (drums/vocals), and Andrew Carper (bass/vocals). The band formed in 2010 and since then has been growing exponentially. The Southern Belles hold residencies across the state of Virginia in Charlottesville, Herndon, and our hometown of Richmond, and we have toured the East Coast from Georgia to Vermont. In 2012 we recorded our debut album "Sharp As A Knife". We have also played a seemingly countless number of music festivals in our area. This year we are adding Floyd Fest and Some Kind of Jam to that list. The Southern Belles have shared the stage with the likes of Anders Osborne, Moon Taxi, Keller Williams, Toubab Krewe, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Zach Deputy, and more. Currently The Southern Belles are touring the East Coast and working on new material for our next album.
Thunder Body
Thunder Body
From the Flower City of Rochester, NY -- THUNDER BODY is a timeless exercise in the possibilities of tight, analog electric roots music. A progression of over a hundred songs celebrate the healing power of sound vibrations in music. The sonic potion they call “senzae” combines elements of soul, blues, noise, dub, and jazz. It honors the healing power of music. There is no sign of letting up: The past is the story; the future is a mystery.
